A Yukon.ca bridge page links people from Yukon.ca to a digital service or online form Start page.
Why we have a design pattern for Yukon.ca bridge pages
We have a design pattern for Yukon.ca bridge pages so the user:
- can find all government services through the Yukon.ca search regardless platform;
- gets information about the service in a consistent and predicable manner; and
- trusts they are being led from one trusted source of information to another.
When to use a Yukon.ca bridge page
Use a Yukon.ca bridge page when you need to link users to a digital service or online form that is not on Yukon.ca.
When you should not use a Yukon.ca bridge page
There are not many or any instances when you would not use a Yukon.ca bridge page. The use journey should always start on Yukon.ca.
How Yukon.ca bridge pages work
The user journey must always start on Yukon.ca. If your digital service is not on Yukon.ca, you must create a bridge page to link users to the service. This is the page you direct traffic to and it should be included in your marketing or communications plan. Never link directly to a digital service – always link to the Yukon.ca bridge page.
This how we make sure people can find the service when they search for it and we can present them with a cohesive and consistent user experience.
Placement
Content on Yukon.ca is divided into categories and sub-categories. Work with your department communications team and the Executive Council Office's digital team to determine where your bridge page belongs. In many cases the page already exists and you need to add an option to access the service online.
Language and style
A Yukon.ca bridge page has the following elements.
Page title
The page title should be the name of the service. See the standard for naming a digital service.
Introductory sentences
Include 1 to 2 sentences that explain what the service is and who it's for. If there is a common program name or acronym that many of your users will recognize, you can use it here along with the plain language version from the page title.
Example:
Page title: Apply for community project and event funding
Introductory sentences: The Community Development Fund (CDF) provides funding for projects, events and initiatives that provide long-term, sustainable economic and social benefits to Yukon communities. This funding is for community organizations that meet the eligibility criteria.
Eligibility requirements
Eligibility requirements tell people if they can apply to the service or not. They may also describe project or event eligibility.
These should appear as a bulleted list. You can have lead in text or simply a list.
