When a user’s task only requires one simple step, use the basic page format.

Related content or tasks — these should be split into distinct basic pages or multi-step pages. 

Rule

Multi-step pages should:

• answer a specific, task-oriented user need; and
• be factual guidance the government has a duty to provide, not advice.

Purpose

To help a user complete a detailed task, requiring more than one step, or complicated interaction.
